How to choose most suitable materials for your new mall kiosk?

today one customer sent me an inquiry ask for a hair salon kiosk,he want used for exhibition.

this hair salon kiosk we made before used MDF with glossy baking paint finish,but he want use plywood with laminate finish,and countertop use corian.But I suggest him do mdf with baking paint finish as before,do you want know why?

Fristly,his budget is very limit.Do plywood+laminate,corian countertop is more expensive.

Second,this model have 3 circles,curved,use laminate can’t achieve this effect,because if radian is too big,laminate can’t bend,can’t fixed.but paint can achieve any effect and surface is gloosy,looks very nice.

Third,plywood is more heavy than MDF,and he even want use corian for countertop,so this kiosk would be very heavy.considering he will used for exhibition,need move and changes places always,so suggest use MDF+baking paint finish is ok.

many customers don’t know how to choose materials when begin a new mall kiosk.May be you will say just use best materials,good materials,but what’s the best?I think achieve nice effect,practical,also durable is the best,what do you think?

Here list my experiences here for your reference:

1.MDF+baking paint finish

MDF:medium density fiberboard.it has good machinability, sawing, drilling, grooving, boring, sanding and engraving. The edges of the board can be machined in any shape and the surface is smooth after processing.Due to smooth surface and good machinability,so it is widely used to make salon kiosks,such as eyebrow,nail,hair,teeth whitening,and phone kiosk,sunglass,jewelry kiosk.

Baking paint:Dip the primer three times on the substrate, four times the surface paint, and then send it to the dust-free temperature-controlled barn and baking.compare with normal paint,it is good color rendering, non-stickiness, heat resistance, moisture resistance.

Surface very glossy and bright.

so if you want do a salon kiosk/jewelry/sunglass/phone mall kiosk,especially with many modelings and curve shape,choose MDF with baking paint finish would be most suitable.for exhibition,need slight and easy move,so use MDF as basic material is a good choice.

2.plywood+laminate

plywood:The hardness of the plywood is very high. Since the material and texture are vertically staggered during the gluing process, the strength is large and the deformation is not easy.it is more durable and water-proof than MDF,so more suitable for some kiosks need be water-proof and very strong.

laminate:HPL{Decorative high-Pressure Laminate} is a fire-resistant building material for surface decoration, with rich surface color and texture.And it is abrasion resistance, high temperature resistance, smash resistance, penetration resistance, easy cleaning, moisture resistance, no fading,so very suitable for food kiosks.
